As I’ve already mentioned above, we currently have five left handed Michael Kelly guitars to choose from. Let’s take a closer look at each model and see exactly what they’re all about!
Michael Kelly 1953 Left Handed
The Michael Kelly 1953 is a stunning-looking T-style guitar that is aimed at players looking for a more traditional style with some additional modern appointments.
It features an alder body with a flamboyant flamed maple top and a bolt-on maple neck with your choice of maple or rosewood fretboard. The guitar uses two hot Rockfield single-coil pickups designed specifically for this guitar.
Michael Kelly’s ‘Quad Mod‘ gives us the usual 3 pickup settings, plus one additional setting that activates the bridge and neck pickups in series, offering a much fatter tone similar to a humbucker.
Available left handed in ‘Blue Jean Wash’ finish.

Michael Kelly Patriot Decree OP Left Handed
The Patriot Decree OP is brand new for 2021, and it’s really great to see that the brand has offered up a stunning southpaw model!
It features the more traditional mahogany body but pairs it up with a very eye-catching open-pore Sungkai top. An ultra-thin satin finish ensures that nothing can stand in the way of its sustain and bold tone.
The Patriot Decree OP has a much wider tonal arsenal thanks to Michael Kelly’s ‘Great 8 Mod‘. With this, the brand has added push-pull switches to both tone knobs to allow one coil of each humbucker to be turned off. These options allow for a much brighter and cleaner single-coil style sound!

Michael Kelly Patriot Instinct Bold Left Handed
If looks could kill! The Patriot Instinct Bold takes premium quality features and combines them with a unique dark blue/black to natural color fade.
A triple-bound mahogany body is finished with a quilted maple top and a real abalone center stripe. The fully bound mahogany neck has a 22 fret Pau Ferro fretboard and beautiful pearl/abalone ‘Instinct’ inlays.
A specially voiced pair of zebra-colored Rockfield SWC humbuckers complete the look.
As with the Patriot Decree OP above, the Instinct Bold also features Michael Kelly’s ‘Great 8 Mod‘. This essentially gives the guitar eight distinct tonal options by allowing one coil of each humbucker to be disengaged. Very cool!

Michael Kelly Hybrid Special Left Handed
The Hybrid Special is a unique and interesting instrument that is designed to allow players to enjoy both electric and acoustic tones in a single guitar. In addition to switching between the two worlds, the Hybrid Special also offers the option of blending both tones to create some really unique sounds.
The chambered mahogany body has a gorgeous spalted maple top and features 5-ply black and white binding. The mahogany neck has a bound 22-fret pau ferro fingerboard with abalone block inlays.
Although you can use a regular guitar cable with the Hybrid Special, Michael Kelly suggests utilizing a Y-cable to unlock its full potential. This will allow you to send the signal from the magnetic pickups to one amp, and the acoustic sounds to another.

Michael Kelly Forte Port Left Handed
The beautiful Forte Port is an acoustic for the modern player thanks to its fresh new approach to top bracing and soundhole placement.
Michael Kelly doesn’t give many secrets away on their website, but these new designs are claimed to provide a noticeable improvement to sonic performance. Plus, you’ll never lose a pick inside this acoustic!
Other modern features include an aggressive cutaway for fabulous upper fret access, Fishman Sonitone electronics, and a Zero-Pin bridge which makes restringing much easier.
The guitar itself is constructed of sapele back and sides, a solid spruce top, triple black binding, a mahogany neck, and a rosewood fingerboard.
