Looking for a left-handed Squier guitar or bass, but not sure which models are available this year? Take a read through this article for a quick summary of the entire left handed Squier guitar range!
The current stable of southpaw models has remained more or less unchanged for the past few years. However, Squier, unfortunately, seems to have been quietly discontinuing a number of their awesome southpaw models recently.
As a result, the Squier left handed range is currently the smallest it has been in probably a decade. This is a real shame to see as Squier had some of the best value-for-money guitars in the lefty market.
Unfortunately, if you’re after a left handed acoustic guitar you’re completely out of luck, as Squier doesn’t currently have any. The good news is that Fender does have some really great (and affordable) acoustic options!
Does Squier Make Left Handed Guitars?
Yes! At the time of writing Squier offers 5 different left handed guitars and basses. This is comprised of a selection of left handed Stratocasters and Telecasters, plus a single lefty Jazz bass model.

The Mini Strat is a roughly 3/4-sized guitar with a scale length of 22.75″. It would make the perfect starter electric for younger players, or would equally be at home on the road as a portable travel guitar.
Main features include a lightweight poplar body, maple neck, 20-fret Indian laurel fingerboard, and 3 single-coil pickups with a 5-way selector. It really is a proper scaled-down Strat – the only thing it lacks is a tremolo bridge!

- Pickups : Squier Single-Coil Strat x3
- Bridge : 6-Saddle Hardtail
- Tuners : Die-Cast Sealed

Prefer the look and/or sound of a Telecaster? Luckily, Squier has us covered with this beauty from their slightly higher-spec Affinity series.
The left handed Squier Affinity Telecaster comes in a beautiful transparent butterscotch blonde finish, which displays the attractive figuring of the wood underneath.
Like its Stratocaster sibling above, this left handed Squier Telecaster features a slim poplar body, plus a comfortable maple neck and fretboard. Two single-coil pickups and a traditional 3-way selector ensure that all of the sought-after Telecaster tones are present and accounted for. Finally, a classy black pickguard completes the look of this vintage-inspired model.
Who is it for? It’s a great option for new players, but is also a very popular choice for guitarists looking for an affordable backup instrument.

The Classic Vibe Series are the cream of the crop when it comes to Squier’s left-handed models. In my opinion, these guitars are more than capable of going toe to toe with their bigger Fender brothers, which cost significantly more.
This is why I highly recommend them in the Newbie Guide. In terms of sheer value for money, the Classic Vibes are arguably the best left handed guitars around. In fact, I have two myself!
The left handed Squier Classic Vibe 50s Tele is based upon a typical Telecaster from the 1950s. Its beautiful pine body is clearly visible through the classic butterscotch blonde finish. A comfortable C-shaped maple neck is coupled with a 21-fret maple fingerboard.
Finally, dynamically responsive single coil pickups have been custom-designed to give that perfectly crisp and rich tone that only a Tele can produce.
Who is it for? If budget allows, this would be a killer first guitar for anyone. However, the Classic Vibe range tends to be purchased by guitarists moving on from their first instrument, or more experienced players looking for a solid backup guitar.
- Body : Pine
- Neck : ‘C’ Maple Neck w/ Maple Fretboard
- Pickups : Fender Design Alnico Single-Coils
- Bridge : 3-Saddle Vintage-Style String-Through-Body
- Tuners : Vintage Style
- Finish : Butterscotch Blonde

The left handed Squier Classic Vibe 70s Jazz Bass is a tribute to the J Basses Fender was putting out in the 1970s. In keeping with the vibe of that era, this new bass features period-correct headstock details, nickel-plated hardware, and a vintage-tinted gloss neck.
Other standout features include black block inlays, a comfortable slim-c neck shape and a lightweight poplar body. This bass comes in gloss black, with black scratchplate and pickups for a super-classy aesthetic.
An excellent choice for beginner left handed bass players, or for guitarists looking to try out bass for the first time. I bought one of these as my first bass, and it continues to serve me well to this day.

- Pickups : Fender Design Alnico Single-Coils
- Bridge : 4-Saddle Vintage Style

Frequently Asked Questions
Who Plays Squier Guitars?
Artists with their own signature Squier guitars have included J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr, Mike Dirnt of Green Day, Frank Bello of Anthrax, Jim Root of Slipknot, and fellow lefty Ian Fowles from the Aquabats!
Are Squier Guitars Made By Fender?
Yes! Fender acquired the Squier brand back in 1965, but didn’t start producing guitars until 1982. Since then, Squier has been offering up more affordable versions of legendary Fender guitars and basses for beginners and those on a tighter budget.
Squier Website
The Squier website has become a section on the main Fender website, rather than the separate site that it used to occupy.
Although there is a lefty section in place now on the Fender site, some of the guitars are still missing from the page (e.g. the new Mini Strat). Good thing I put together this article for you then!
