Danelectro Left Handed Guitars

Wondering which Danelectro left handed guitars and basses are currently available. Well you’re in the right place my friend!

Founded in 1947, Danelectro is based in California, and is known for their instantly recognisable, retro styled guitar designs. This is a brand that isn’t afraid to do their own thing, and the resulting instruments are super unique as a result.

They have been an iconic part of music history for decades, and are revered for their fun and quirky looks, easy playability, and signature jangly ‘Dano’ tone.

Does Danelectro Make Left Handed Guitars?

Yes! At the time of writing Danelectro offers four different left handed electric guitars, and one lefty bass. This line-up includes some really cool niche guitars that you don’t often find left handed, such as a baritone and a 12-string electric!

Danelectro Left Handed Guitars

1. Danelectro ’59M NOS+ Left Handed

Danelectro 59 Left Handed

The chambered semi-hollow ’59 is Danelectro’s most well known guitar, and it is now available left handed with upgraded NOS+ lipstick pickups! These new pickups bring a hotter output and much livelier sound when compared to the previous NOS pickups.

  • Body : Chambered Spruce
  • Neck : Maple
  • Fingerboard : Pau Ferro
  • Pickups : NOS+ Lipstick Single-Coils
  • Tuners : Die-Cast Chrome
  • Bridge : Adjustable Wraparound
  • Colors : Black

Here’s a great overview video from our friend Shane from InTheBlues on YouTube. Unfortunately, at the time of writing the left handed model is no longer available in this particular finish.

2. Danelectro Vintage 12 String Left Handed

Danelectro 12 String Left Handed

The Danelectro Vintage 12 String Left Handed is one of very few left handed 12-string electric guitars that you’ll find today. And surprisingly, they’ve offered it in two different colors! That Dark Aqua model would fit in very nicely at LeftyFretz HQ!

  • Body : Spruce Semi-Hollow
  • Neck : Maple
  • Fingerboard : Pau Ferro
  • Pickups : ’56 Vintage Lipstick Single-Coils
  • Tuners : Die-Cast Chrome
  • Bridge : Adjustable 12-String
  • Colors : Dark Aqua or Black

Check out the amazing tones Bret Kingman manages to coax out of his in the video below.

3. Danelectro Baritone

Danelectro Baritone Left Handed

Another fairly rare beast when it comes to left handed guitars is the long scale length baritone – and Danelectro has one of those too! The hybrid 29.75″ scale length puts it somewhere in between a guitar and bass, and is generally tuned from B to B. Find out more about how the scale length of this guitar affects its tone and playability. An awesome left handed baritone guitar for sure!

  • Body : Chambered Solid Spruce
  • Neck : Maple
  • Fingerboard : Pau Ferro
  • Pickups : ’56 Lipstick Single-Coils
  • Tuners : Die-Cast Chrome
  • Bridge : Adjustable
  • Colors : Black

There are plenty of videos demonstrating this guitar on YouTube, but here is a great one explaining why you NEED a baritone! You know, in case you are still on the fence…

1. Longhorn Bass

And finally we have a left handed Danelectro bass – and the iconic Longhorn sure is an eye-catching beast! This short scale beauty features an easy to play 29.75″ length, and is packed with fat, vintage tone. If you bassists want to stand out from the crowd, then the Longhorn is definitely for you!

  • Body : Hardwood/Plywood
  • Neck : Maple
  • Fingerboard : Pau Ferro
  • Pickups : Lipstick Single-Coils
  • Tuners : Die-Cast
