Last month I put up a fairly in-depth survey with the aim of discovering which left handed Fenders you would like to see happen next. And the results are now in!
We’ve already looked at the results from the electric guitar survey, next up are the findings from the bass questionnaire!
Let’s dive straight in. What basses did you want to see next from the world’s best-selling guitar brand?
General Results
Models by Popularity
I asked you to rate your interest in each model on a scale from 1 to 10. The chart below tallies all of the points for each bass and displays them in order of popularity.
Overall Price Range
The largest number of people (71.7%) are looking for a bass in the $500-$750 range, which falls roughly in the Player Series range. The second most popular budget is $250-$500 which is around Squier Classic Vibe money. The most popular model was the Mustang bass, followed closely by the Precision bass and then the Jaguar bass.

If we take all of the most popular options here we are looking at a 4-string Player Series P-Bass with rosewood fingerboard and alder body, finished in Olympic White.
All of these features are available in the current Player P-Bass apart from the fingerboard, which is Pau Ferro, on this model.
Alternatively you could opt for the second most popular fretboard choice of maple, which is also available on the Player Series model.
There is also a good demand for the Squier Classic Vibe P-Bass, followed closely by the Vintera Series.

If we take all of the most popular options here we are looking at a 4-string Player Series Jazz Bass with rosewood fingerboard and ash body, finished in Lake Placid Blue.
The Player Jazz bass does not come with an Ash body option (only Alder), but as Alder was a mere 2% behind in the votes I think most would be perfectly happy to go with that! It was also super close between rosewood and maple fingerboards, so either should be an acceptable choice.
3-Color Sunburst was also tied for first place in the color vote. This is currently available as a right handed model.

If we take all of the most popular options here we are looking at a Player Series Jaguar Bass with maple fingerboard and finished in Lake Placid Blue.
This model more or less exists as a right handed bass, the only difference being that Lake Placid Blue isn’t currently available. It is offered in Tidepool however, which is fairly similar.
It was also super close between rosewood and maple fingerboards, so either should be an acceptable choice.

If we take all of the most popular options here we are looking at a Player Series Mustang Bass with rosewood fingerboard and finished in Olympic White.
Unfortunately the Player Mustang Bass is not available with the preferred split coil only configuration, so there’s a couple of options here. Either spend a little more money on the Vintera Jaguar Bass…
Or alternatively you could dip into the more affordable Squier Classic Vibe series where you will already find all of these features in a right handed model.
I can’t make my mind up over the white or tortoiseshell pickguard – what do you reckon? Again, it was very close between maple and rosewood fingerboard options.
To Briefly Summarise
It’s a similar story here to what we have found in the electric guitar survey, albeit with slightly less blue! Most bassists are looking for something in the more affordable Player Series, with Lake Placid Blue and Olympic White being the standout finish options. The most popular model style was the shorter scale length Mustang Bass (which I would pick too!).
When the option was available, far more people (over double!) were looking for a regular 4-string bass over a 5-string.
In the electric survey the excellent Squier Classic Vibe range was generally the third most popular series, whereas for the southpaw bassists it came second every time. So it would definitely seem that bassists would like to spend a little less money, or perhaps this result is due to guitarists wanting an affordable bass option for recording duties etc.
